Demonstrators holding flags of the Second Spanish Republic (1931-1939) participate in a rally in support of the end of the Monarchy in Spain and the establishment of a Republic, following the Spanish King Juan Carlos' abdication announcement. The demonstrators want a referendum to choose the new regime.
King Juan Carlos came to power in 1975, after the death of longtime dictator Francisco Franco and has decided to abdicate in favor of his son Prince Felipe de Borbon, after years of scandals and recession.
