Titre : Reconstrution du patrimoine de Mossoul - Musee de Mossoul

Légende : Le musee de Mossoul, qui possedait une importante collection documentant l'histoire millenaire de la plaine de Ninive, a ete fortement endommage par les djihadistes du groupe Etat Islamique en 2015 qui ont filme et diffuse leurs destructions du batiment et des oeuvres qu'il contenait. Depuis 2018, il fait l'objet d'un grand programme de restauration impliquant le SBAH (Iraqi State Board of Antiquities and Heritage), le Musee du Louvre, la Smithsonian Institution, le World Monument Fund et la fondation ALIPH. Une equipe de restaurateurs du musee du Louvre travaillent, avec huit irakiens qu'ils forment. Sur la photo, le restaurateur/tailleur de pierre Clemens Thienpont traverse la salle du musee ou est notamment realisee la reconstrution de la statue du grand lion de Nimrud (partie haute). Derriere lui, les niches vides accueillaient des oeuvres detruites par Daech. Le 11/05/2023 /// The Mosul museum, which had an important collection documenting the millenary history of the Nineveh plain, was heavily damaged by the jihadists of the Islamic State group in 2015 who filmed and broadcast their destruction of the building and the artefacts it contained. Since 2018, a major restoration program has been underway involving the SBAH (Iraqi State Board of Antiquities and Heritage), the Louvre Museum, the Smithsonian Institution, the World Monument Fund and the ALIPH foundation. A team of restorers from the Louvre Museum are working, with eight Iraqis whom they are training, on the reconstruction of these destroyed sculptures. In the photo, the restorer/stonemason Clemens Thienpont crosses the room of the museum where the reconstruction of the statue of the great lion of Nimrud is carried out.
