Légende : 23/02/2010 - KINSHASA, RDC - Mathieu Ngandunda est soigné à l'hôpital Mama Yemo (hôpital général de Kinshasa) pour une très grosse tumeur au visage qui n'était qu'une petite excoissance 10 mois auparavant. Les soins coûtent très cher à sa famille (environ 20$ par jour). Mais cet établissement n'est pas équipé pour traiter correctement ce type de pathologie. Malgré ses espoirs de guérison, il décédera quelques semaines après que cette photo ait été prise.
Mathieu Ngandunda is being treated for cancer on his face at Kinshasa’s central hospital. Despite the doctors’ promises, the lack of equipment and resources mean he has little chance of surviving. “Albinos are in a catastrophic situation! You have no idea. It’s an issue that really has to be taken seriously, otherwise in a few years a whole race is going to disappear. People have no pity for albinos.î He died few weeks after this photo was taken.
